Hyeongmin Seo is an assistant professor in the Department of Chemical and Biochemical Engineering at the University of Iowa. In 2024, he joined the College of Engineering after completing postdoctoral research at the University of Delaware. Hyeongmin earned his Ph.D. in Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering from the University of Tennessee-Knoxville. He is passionate about addressing fundamental challenges in microbial biotechnology to tackle sustainability and health problems. His research group focuses on designing, constructing, and evaluating synthetic microbes for applications in sustainable chemical, biomaterial, and biofuel production as well as therapeutics development.
